There are two international airports in Costa Rica-one in the capital city of San Jose-and the new airport in Liberia. While San Jose is a 4 hour drive from the popular beaches on the northwest coast, the Liberia airport is just 30 minutes away from beautiful Pacific beaches. Most visitors to Guanacaste prefer to fly into Liberia. There are direct flights available from a growing number of U.S., Canadian and European locations. Continental and Delta Airlines connecting through Houston and Atlanta, fly into Liberia airport daily.
